Mr. Gonzalez joined Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) in 2019. Mr. Gonzalez’s responsibilities include advancing CECU’s policy priorities, communications, and research before the legislative and executive branch officials, think tanks, media, veterans and military service organizations, and other like-minded organizations. Mr. Gonzalez also provides support to the development and success of CECU’s Veterans for Career Education initiative.
Before joining CECU, from 2015 – 2019, Mr. Gonzalez served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee. As a senior policy advisor, Mr. Gonzalez advised the Chairman and members of the Committee on the implementation of an $800 billion federal budget for the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and State, U.S. Agency for International Development, and Overseas Contingency Operations. He also advised the Committee on trade and artificial intelligence policies. Additionally, Mr. Gonzalez served as the main liaison between the Committee and executive branch officials, House and Senate committees, House of Representatives leadership, and industry representatives on related policies within his portfolio area.
Before entering the government, Mr. Gonzalez served as an assistant director at the American Legion’s Economic Opportunity Division. He also served as a Marine Corps non-commissioned officer and worked on state and federal political campaigns.
Mr. Gonzalez is a native of Brooklyn, New York, and is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina, with a degree in International Studies. He currently resides in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife, the former Rachel Cardwell of New Orleans, La, and their young son, Cameron.
